My First Author Event

I held a book signing on Dec. 14 at my local library in my hometown. I was really nervous about putting myself out there as ‘an author”. Reading in front of children is second nature to me as a retired elementary school teacher. Reading in front of adults is a whole different ball game.

Yet it turned out to be a beautiful event. The crowd was warm and supportive. The adults seemed to enjoy my book just as much as the children. I was delighted at how engaged the children were, trying to decipher clues to the real name of my main character, which are hidden in the illustrations.

Junie, my five pound Pomeranian and part of the inspiration for the book, put in a guest appearance. She wasn’t nervous at all. She loved it. You know what, Junie? So did I.
