Today was amazing…They Call Me Quirky was launched on Amazon. I did a LIVE interview on Facebook with my Publisher, Miriam Laundry.
To celebrate the day, I chose to spend some time at my hometown school where I worked my entire career. I was able to see my little focus group. This was a small group of students who knew I was writing a book. It was a beautiful full circle moment for me watching them smile as they held their personal copy of a book they first new as my dream.
While we read, I gave them roles to read. I also took them on a synonym hunt, where they stopped and wrote down synonyms for ‘quirky” every time they found one in the story.
They loved the bone clues in the story, and I just happened to bring along some bone-shaped sugar cookies and some icing to decorate. Do you see where I’m going with this?
I asked them to pick their favourite quirky word and we decorated SYNONYM COOKIES! Best cookies ever!
