Last week I had the honour of being invited to speak to a high school creative writing class here in my hometown. The teacher was a former student of mine, and I was thrilled to reconnect with her. Her students were beginning a very special project — they were going to be writing their own children’s books! As I greeted the senior students coming into class, I recognized many faces that were ALSO in MY third grade class just a few years (or more) ago. We reminisced about grade three being the best year ever, and then I shared my experience publishing my first children’s book with them. It was such a beautiful moment that I will always treasure. I am so excited for these young people, and I want to thank Miss Paityn Ireland for this incredible opportunity. And what a great project for this senior creative writing class!
